Ive had one before that lives 4+years but i only kept it with other malawis the same size. it really wasnt aggressive unless the johanni started something. The ole ball and chain wants one and i was just wondering what all trouble you guys could forsee in my adding it to this. i have a 150 with the following:
6 Frontosa 4-6"
3 Julidocromis 2-3"
1 Leleupi 3"
1 Calvus1.5"
1 Brevis1"
1 Caudopunctus1"
1 Yellow Lab2"
1 Redfin Borleyi2"
7 Clown Loaches 1-4"
Clown Pleco 3"
madtom catfish 3"

i expect that the shellies will eventually become food but i just dont want to add the acei, have it grow quicker than the tangs and turn around and eat/pick on my stock. will it end up causing more problems than my other fish. right now everyone is getting along nicely.

i have an empty 80g but no room for it. i cant even get out of bed on my side because i have a tank there.

Ive had aceis breed in my front tank, but then again the fronts were juvies back then. I wouldnt really think it would be a problem. Depends on the attitude of the acei's that your adding. Its a 50-50shot in my opinion.

Acei are practically the least aggressive mbuna species around, more so than yellow labs and you've already got one of those in the tank. However, I wouldn't recommend keeping mbuna (of any kind) in your set up.

Additionally, adding a single african cichlid to an established tank might led to some aggression issues (with the acei being on the receiving end).

i used to be livestock manager at a local petstore like petco and i always put up the new fish. baby madtoms would come in with the feeders so i took'em home. they were all around 3/4" long. this one managed to escape being dinner. it hids all the time so i only see it like once a month unless i catch him while im up with the baby at night.

:iagree: very laid back herbivore. I would be worried about the Acei.
I am not so rigid on mixing fish from different waters, but dietary needs should always be a consideration in stocking.
