Picked this up today real bargain yellow tailed cat I have see bits about these I seem to remember they are a cross between a tiger shovelnose and a red tail. also I have been told they only grow to 2 ft.??? is this true as the other 2 grow to 5 cant fined a lot on the web. is there a Latin name or just the common name its about 16 cm

No latin names on hybrids. I have seen one over 2 foot, I would have to believe they are capable of growing quiet large since the two species crossed both get large.

Oh, and could you post that picture a little larger? I can barely see it

The evidence shown in hybridized fish is the hybrid will outgrow the adult size of either parent fish (called 'hybrid vigor'). You quite possibly have a five footer in-the-making on your hands.

My RTCxTSN is out-pacing my RTC on growth rate.

Nice looking cat once you can see all of it.

Hybrids don't usually assign to a scientific name. However, let's see if you can fit this on his name badge:

"Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum X Phractocephalus hemiliopterus var. sp.? hybridized morph"

Here's a pic of mine. More spots than stripes

they are also known (hybrid's) to be more aggressive and not as hardy as the parent's . you have a monster in the making on your hand's start building a indoor pond now because if you plan to keep it at a full grown size you will need it .. beside's ODDBALL (who is the man IMO) NECROCANIS (p.m him) can tell you a butt load about this fish and many other catfish for that matter( give him a little time though as he is an inlisted man and may be away at his base )...
good luck bro...
