I came home today to find that my breeding pair of yellow dovii have spawned and laid eggs on the inside of a clay pipe cave! There looks to be a couple hundred of these things! Any info on how I can better care for these eggs will be greatly appreciated! All but two appear to be a yellow and the other two are white.

if you want to grow them out i would siphon the babies out when they are free swimming...and put them in a grow out 20gal tank....then swicth to a bigger tank as they grow. that would be safe. or you can gamble and leave them in with parents and see if they will eat them...once they've spawn they will do it again in a matter of time...and make sure you use a sponge filter for grow out tank...if you have hob filter place a nylon stocking at the end piece of tube so babies won't get sucked up...good luck

Conrats on the spawn. The eggs that are white were not fertilized and hzve fungus. Don't worry she will probably pic them off. You don't have to do anything right now, the female will do all the work. If you want to raise some from this batch I would recomend leaving them in with the pair right now and wait till they become free swimming. Once they are free swimming wait a few days and see how the pair reacts. If they have developed a strong pair bond, witch most Parachromis do you can remove a portion of the fry not all. Sometimes if you remove all the fry the pair bond will break down and that will result in the almost certain death of the female. Sometimes its not a bad idea to allow a young pair to raise the first couple of spawns as this will strengthen the pair bond between them and you will be rewarded with many future spawns. Good luck and try to get some pics of the pair up for everyone to enjoy.
