I've got a couple of order lists from SA exporters, including PAEX. They
have Yepesi listed for sale, but no pics of course.

I'll have to go looking for the link to the site where they had some
pics up, its been a while since I looked. I haven't seen yepesi in
stores, just on the site/order list. That's the downside to buying
something without seeing it first, you can't always be sure of what
you are going to get.

Aquamark has hystrix listed for sale, with pics.
Aquascape online has Yepesi listed, with pics as well.

No real Yepezi in the aquarium hobby yet..

but the FALSE Yepezi from Peru is very common.. Potamotrygon cf. Yepezi.. like Nic said, probably Orbignyi or Humerosa..

Heres a pic of 2 false yepezi.. I imported from PAEX.

I'm curious how these site and exporters are able to advertise something
as particular species when it isnt? Appart from it being false advertising,
it false information about the fish in general and it's basically ripping people
off. Making a habit of doing that in theory should kill a business. Even PAEX
has these species on their list. SOme supposedly good books and sites have
pictures of them that are pretty common and what most of us seem to think
is the real thing. I know as well as anyone here, that the color and pattern
variations within species can be pretty different. Then there are hybrids that
just go messing up all the 'rules' again. I'm a bit of a purist in that sense, I
want to know what I got, then I know what I'm going to get when pups do
happen.
