well since nobody replied to my other thread i figured i'd ventured a little off topic so a new thread would be useful. I have got a 75 gallon that i can have delivered to me this next week, and i want to know what fish to stock in it.

If you have a different suggestion, please tell.

senegals

the cten's are awesome fish to have.

cost is my only concern with the first option. Leopard cten's cost $12 a piece and a senagal is around $20 for a nice sized one.

any idea of perhaps a cheap online place to buy?

sens and ctenopomas, maybe not the algea eater though, instead of the algea eater get an oscar.

I would do the senegal and the ctenopomas. I have 4 1.5" ctens in a 30 gallon and they are great fish to keep. $12 seems about average for ctenopomas. I've seen them at two lfs and they were $11 at one and $12 at the other. If you buy them online you're going to pay a lot more on shipping.

You'll have to post some pics once it's up and running.

Well i've heard pleco's and senegals don't really go well together, something about the pleco trying to suck the slime coat off of the senegal.....but i really need an algea eater as i hate cleaning the sides of tanks, and all of my tanks grow algea super fast.

i suppose i'll just have to shell out money. For the tank, lights, filter, heater and stand delivered here. Fish $80. Substrate $30-40 (how much is pool filter sand?) Driftwood and other decor priceless...i mean free.

any algea eater will kill bichirs except for bristle nose plecos and snails, both of which have a possibility of getting eaten. i would get a good algea destroyer, works like a dream.

This might be a good idea actually! It should deffinatly stop algea from growing on my plexi lids since the water will actually contain the algea destroyer...nice.

What should go in it's place....Oscar is too big.
