congrats! always a big accomplishment with gars (or at least one to be proud of)...especially since they rarely take shrimp right away, and often take quite a bit of work transitioning.--

Well i took alot of advice from you guys i stopped using scallops and went with shrimp, now they got big fat bellies. Its pretty cool how these fish can manuevor food in thier mouths.

congrats! it certainly helps me sleep well when i feed shrimp rather than live:)

To this day my gar will not eat off the bottom. He will take food as it sinks, but once it's on the sand he ignores it.

Hi, I'd like to share as well. I have been feeding my alligator gar, guppies & superworms. Guppies, he doesn't like too much, but he loves superworms. Just this week, I tried feeding him fresh shrimp & fresh squid. I noticed that he eats them when I drop the food on top of him but once it sinks, he ignores them (unlike the superworms which he eats even if its on the aquarium floor).
Does this mean he doesn't like them that much?
Oh, by the way, I didn't have any problems introducing the new food, I just had to make sure that I drop the food near his mouth.
Hope this helps :-)
