Yes, thats right, after seeing so many of you US brudders feeding SMELT fish to ur monster fishes...and much more economical...I went to hunt for it high and low...and now I finally know what a SMELT fish is..I have eaten it myself.
BUT!!! the smallest SMELT fish we have here in SGP is at least 5 inches plus!! and normal ones are 6 inches! nothing of those 3 inch dudes that u guys used to feed!
but again..i found something new!! there lay infront of me..packets of frozen headless anchovys...they are not those dried ones..but fresh frozen..and they are of good bite size to feed my fishes too. So I bought to try...the result is good...
Fishes that took in the first time round are:
Black Aro
Big Mumma Rtg
2 other Asian Aros
Oscars
Giant gouramis
Cuban Gar
STs (ate the most)
Arapaima
Butti
There are ofcourse some other fishes apprehending on the anchovys cuz they have never tried before..Some took in....chewed a bit..spit out and took in again etc. I think if I give them enough time, they can be weaned into eating.
Each pack is only S$2.00 (Approx US$1.19) per pack that I think can give me 4 feeds for my fishes.
Below are the pics of the pack in frozen from and defrosted form...as you can see, its quite meaty
Just some ideas to other brudders on using more economical feed for ur fishes.
