got a 3in oscar last week, was in good health, had one little rip in his side clear fin, healed up in a couple days, thought that was cool and the oscar was going to be great, and healthy,i keep an eye and watch him closely cause he is the new guy, came home from work today and the tail fin has a like 8 rips in it and one of the clear side one is almost gone,
tank is 75
one adult convict
and the oscar

i have seen the vict chase him but never no contact
do not have water test yet, will do tomorrow as aquarium is close
but this will bug me all night:(

You can put a 1" Convict in with a full grown Oscar and have peace. But you can't put a Convict in with a juvie Oscar without fallout. It's probably going to keep happening. Until the Oscar is big he's not going to intimidate anyone and he'll keep getting beat up.

i had the same problem with my jd got along fine with an adult oscar and kicks the crap uot of the little one so i had to move him to a dif tank. that is what i recomend here as well.

Thanks guys but come to find out my water was not nearly ready to handle an Oscar, so the Oscar suffered cause of me, he lost his slime coat and hanging out at the top of the tank all the time didn't help, i guess the water is worst at the top? i know it is not the vict, he chases him but the little guy turns right around with the (whats up!, mouth open) look and the vict goes about his business, Ive seen the Oscar run at him with his mouth open, i had my water tested by my local and they said i have about another week, but a friend said salt would help the Oscar heal? hes acting fine and eating krill well, he 3in.
