So last night I was really bored, I had NOTHING to do at all. So I decided to shake things up in my 3 55G growouts.

Before "Shake":

55G 1:

4.5" Female Jack
3" Green Terror
3" Pearl Cichlid
2" Firemouth
5" Oscar
3.5" Severum
1.5" Acei

55G 2:

4-5" BGK
4" Sengal Bichir
4 5-6" Tinfoil Barbs
4" African Featherfin Cat
3.5" Pictus
2.5" Striped Raphael Cat

55G 3:
8" Male Jack

And to give you some backstory (I know I've had other threads saying this but lets say this is a refresher), My Male Jack is my favorite fish, but hes a killer. I tried him with this female jack about 2-3 months ago when she was about 3", and he wanted to kill her and actually hurt her pretty bad.

After “shake”

55G 1:
Male Jack
Female Jack
4 Tinfoil Barbs
Pictus Cat
African Featherfin Cat

55G 2:
Sengal Bichir
BGK
Oscar
Green Terror

55G 3:
Severum
Pearl Eartheater
Firemouth
Acei
Striped Raphael Cat

I watched from 7pm-1am as I am nearly certain the Jacks paired off. I’ve always heard that even in a pair its usually an abusive relationship but there not, she follows him everywhere, and he lets her to my disbelief. He also has not gone after the tinfoil barbs or cats at all, they cruise the tank side by side and then go in his cave together. I then saw her sucking the flat surface on top of the cave, which I can only assume, is prep for egg laying. This morning…nobodies dead! And they were asleep side-by-side in cave. I know Jacks pairing isn’t a big deal for you guys but I’m so happy, I really thought he was going to have to be alone forever, now I know things will be good when I upgrade them in January.

Sorry for the long post, but I’m estatic and nobody IRL cares or understands in the slightest.

Sweet dude!

I'm in the process of deciding whether I get a new tank for my JD or give her away:\

Congrats on the pairing! Hoping it keeps working out.

lol "i woke up and nobodys dead" allways a great feeling :)

Congrats! That's always a good thing. I'm glad it's working out so far. Whenever I bring a new wet pet home I always watch for a really long time and check everyone out to make sure nothing is endangered... Can be a stressful time! My latest add was my BGK. Now I'm considering an african butterflyfish too
