Hello, all got my 2'' fire eel to finally eat!! He eats shrimp and blood worms right out of my hand. After 2 months he finally eats!! Just thought I share!

I think it went 4 weeks to a month with out eating. But yesterday he ate like a pig.

Thanks guys. I;m going to try and get this guy monster fast!! He ate alot today!! My only Q is are they slow growers???

they grow about 1" when small untill they reach about 18" then they slow down.

Good to hear be nice to it visit if often and be calm when your hand is in the tank and it will only get better as its trust with you grows it will become more and more play full i like fore eels more hen tire tracks for this reason they hide less and are more playful try to get it to eat as many different foods as possible you don't wan't to get it hooked on one or two foods DEF try earth worms when its bigger

I've seen Mastacembelidae go a lot longer than two months not eating.
They did have more body mass than a two inch specimen though.



Glad you got it to eat nonetheless.It will be the fastest growing fish you have.
