I've gone through the stickies and i'm pretty sure this is a long-nose. But I would like to ask the more experienced gar keepers to help me make sure. He was wild caught in texas from what I was told - the old owner was about to just throw it out because it was eating his tetras. Its about 4 inches long now. Please help if you can -

Nice longnose gar! Unqiue patterns on its back as well.

Cool, the best I can do for him is a 150 gal for now. I'm pretty sure i'll upgrade eventually and keep him around. Anyone have any suggestions for tankmates? he is the only fish going into the new 150 for now. And just out of curiosity since I received him for free - any idea or guess as to value or what purchase price would have been?

looks like a longnose gar to me. if you could get some dorsal shots this would greatly help some longnose diversity work going right now :) --
