Yet another Geo ID thread

110% Geophagus surinamensis (kidding, just kidding)

Just texted you a minute ago bro. They are too little for me to ID with any confidence at all. If I had to take a stab I would say orange heads with the split vertical barring where some connect in an introverted V in some but again it's just a stab.

They are definitely not a Satanoperca species. I would guess orange heads too, based on the small spot and the orange color in the tail. It's a bit hard to tell because of their size and the fact they're washed out.

I agree with the others that these are not Satanoperca, but rather Geophagus. However, the vertical banding on the tail of the central fish in the first pic tells me they are not orange heads. The tail stripes on orange heads run front to back on the fin (see pic), not vertically. I'm guessing you have something in the G altifrons group of Geos, but beyond that I'm not certain.

So hard to tell. My stab is Abalios. But again, its a stab. Keep this thread up with updated pictures so you can prove me wrong. ;-)

Without definitive caudal markings no one will be able say 100% what these are, only guesses until they put on some size and develop prominent markings.
