Hi! my name is melissa. I am new here and finding my wayaround this site ( for me) has been a challenge. i am not sure im doingf this right and pointers would be great! Let me tell you about myself and waht i hope to accomplish here! I am From MA. Zone 5. I love watergardening and i just recently had a new water garden built. Its over 3000 gallons. it has three pools and three water falls and all connected by one stream that goes on a loop from the top to bottom. I love all pond fish but Japanese koi are my obsession.
I also have a 29 gallon fresh water community tank. A 20 gallon tank that has algae shrimp which im not certain what kind of shrimp they really are, some teeny tiny crystal red shrimp ( which are new additions) and some cherry shrimp. they also share the tank with some neons and rasboras. And a 55 gallon tank with a mix of fancy goldfish, pool commets and butterfly koi. And my best is a 125 gallon tank that has some 6" to 14 inch japanese koi. These koi will go into my new pond in the spring. Poor things have been in the tank for three years now and i know they are just itching to go into the pond, But however i think its too cold out there to move them outside with out shocking and killing them. so i will get to enjoy them inside for one more winter. yaaay!
I also have 1 african grey parrot and two retired/adopted grey hounds. I have alot less pets than i have had most of my life and i think its good because properly caring for all these pets can become a full time job in its self. Another great hobby of mine, besides fish is gardening! LOVVVE IT!
I hope to gain knowledge, make new friends and perhaps trade items or fish in the future. My interests have recently turned more to fresh water shrimp. And in time i would like to collect more of a variety. I do enjoy watching them as well as all my other fish. It is quite a peaceful hobby and it brings great joy and relaxation to me. so with that, i would like to say to everyone that i hope you all had a good weekend and anyone looking to make a new friend, please feel free to add me!
