I need an id on these plants they came in with an order of MTS and red cherry shrimp. I was thinking it might be some species of Potamogeton, maybe Potamogeton pectinatus but I haven't been able to ID it so far.

Just to give you an idea on scale one of these stalks is approaching 20 inches easily and I feel like it could grow another 20 at its current rate of growth.

Oddly enough, I think its Micro-sword. I thought the stuff would grow like a grass, but its actually looking vine-like just like yours. Good looking stuff!

Not even close. Micro swords will not grow upwards, unless lighting is to weak.

thanks for the help wyld and chon. I also thought It might be najas but it just doesn't quite look right from everything I have seen of guppy grass. It is definitely growing like a weed though. I'm hoping it doesn't become invasive long term.

Then my lighting sucks... but seriously, my microsword grew vertically at 1st, and it looked exactly like his picture. I 1/2 buried the vine as of a few weeks ago in a snake-ish pattern, and it seems to be dieing slowly. I supposed my lighting issue could be all the lilly-pads from the banana plants blocking too much light.

:screwy:...Or it could be that you were sold guppy grass instead of micro-sword (which is why it looks exactly like the pic) & you buried it (which is why its dying)...
