I picked up a wild caught marble a couple months ago who was feeding on black worms and live. I immediately started feeding her night crawlers twice a day to beef her up and all was going well. Looked fat enough to starve her for a few days and give market shrimp a shot. 4 days later, didn't take it. Went one more day and still nothing. Figured I would switch it up and offer her usual night crawler meal earlier in the day and shrimp at night hoping she would eventually take shrimp at night. Now she is not taking night crawlers and will only take live feeders.

I'm worried because she won't even take night crawlers now and I'm not a fan of feeder fish. I started buying them in bulk and putting feeders in my grow out tank but I don't want her simply eating live forever. Also, her pelvic bones are now visible and I'm getting really concerned. Still very active and showing great color but obviously she should not be that skinny.

Only tankmate is a large arowana who has not showed any sign of aggression to the ray and is eating anything I throw in the tank.

Any suggestions?

her hips shouldn't be showing after only 5 days of not feeding. i would say maybe she's on a feeding strike because of the change up, keep trying with just the nightcrawlers. unless she's picked up some sort of disease (feeders are terrible for that), she should eat something before starving herself to death.

I'm buying about 75 feeders at a time and keeping them in my grow out for a couple days before feeding I know it won't do much but if feeders are all she is taking I gotta get something in her belly. I throw night crawlers in from time to time she mulls them over and doesn't take em and eventually after a few minutes my arowana goes down and takes them.

I would get her to a decent weight before dosing with meds. Prazi is very mild but rays are pretty sensitive. If she is eating feeders load her up on them for a few weeks and then dose her if you still suspect parasites.

thanks guys and as always, thanks John  what confuses me is how she'll take down 15 or so feeders and hours later I can see her pelvic bones again I guess I should be feeding her a ton of em.

gave her a good amount of live today and she looks pregnant she ate so much. I also picked up some Prazi Pro but will wait a few days to put any in the tank wanna beef her up a bit.

U QT the feeders In ur grow out tank i suppose..
Good luck with ur ray.. hope she/he does well..
Or if ur ray is still fussy about foods.. Feed wat u want ur rays to eat to the feeders..
Den pop them in to the ray.. Thats wat i tried before converting to full shrimp and tilapia etc..
