Yes I know every one hates these questions but I did some tank rearranging and now have an empty 20 gal, and no idea what to stock it with. The wife and I were throwing the idea of a small salt tank or maybe angels.
I would love to do a pair of discus but will they be ok in the 20 as I have no intentions of upgrading to a bigger tank.
So what would you all do? Please feel free to throw in what ever, I'm just looking for some ideas in the hopes that something will spark in my head.

And just to save you all the time no I'm not new to fish keeping just looking for ideas so don't wast your time posting just to ask if I am.
Thanks in advance

dear james blunt, im not certain but i believe discus need a fairly large tank. gf's mom has a small saltwater so its possible but probably 2-4 small fish maximum. some are very territorial we learned the hard way. your best bet is probably the cliche answer of some tetras.

Was thinking a pair of skunk clowns if I do salt water, and I just moved my con pair out of the 20 to a 50.

i'd give even 2 discus more room than a 20g. You could do a decent little sw setup, just chock it full of live sand and live rock, then add some smaller fish that catch your interest. Depending on what filtration you are going to use, you could also rig up a CO2 system and heavily plant the tank and do a tetra tank. I had a small 20g brackish setup that was packed with dead corals and had a green spot puffer, dragon gobies, an archer and a sebae monodactylus.
