so my 125 gal. tank has just been converted to an amazon tank. it has eco-complete sand substrate that makes the water soft. it has a couple pieces of medium sized driftwood with a new fluval fx5 cannister filter. it is planted as well. so far the only inhabitants are 3 hujeta gars and a retic. stingray. (who hasnt eaten yet). i would like to get tankmates in a few weeks after the ray has gotten used to things. a juvenile cichla mono will be added in a couple months after he's grown up a bit. any other ideas for amazon fish that are passive enough to go in this tank without gettin eaten?

How big do those gar get?

12" in the wild, more like 9" in captivity... very docile. they move for food and that's about it. they school a little bit but are pretty laid back. great fish.

How about some more P-Bass? A nice shoal of 3?

a school of silver dollars?

geos are pretty laid back and they love sand :)

Yep, that's what I was gonna say too. I've seen pics of someone's (can't remember where I saw the pics) amazon tank with rays and discus. It would be a more risky combo and I doubt they'd get along well with the pbass, but it was one of the coolest tanks I've ever seen.

I say go with geo's though.
