I was wondering if I could make a w/d sump by framing up a large box then fiberglassing it all! Anyone got any comments? I would like to have a very large sump setup for a large tank but can't see buying a 100+ gallon tank to use.. I would rather set it up as a fish tank.. before ya know it ill have 10 tanks and no w/d sumps!!! haha

Any issues with fiberglass leaching anything or can it be painted with some epoxy to seal it all like the hull of a boat.?
Would it hold up to constant heat from the in-sump heaters and what about a uv light set up.

I'm actually planning on having a small shed-like room outside next to my house where I will have all my filter setup so room isnt an issue. I'm still in the planning stages for all this but someday I will post pictures of my setup 8)

Use epoxy resin as the binder for the glass mat, then you don't have to worry about polyester resin leaching anywhere and you can put the sump to use far quicker, that's what I'm using to make my plywood tank, and that's essentially what you are looking to do, minus the glass viewing panel.
