i was just curious if anyone has used any of the hammered, stone, etc. types of paint for backgrounds. i just painted a 55 and was thinking about going one of these routes, but went with good ol trusty black.

I recently just sprayed my tank matt black, but did look into the other finishes, at the end of the day, if you want clean pics you want a clean background, they textured ones can look nice if used in conjunnction with the aquascaping, like loads of rocks and plants could look cool with a stone finish almost like a wall of rock, but still you could just make a wall of rock lol

Black is the best route i think (or blue for the people that prefer)

I read on another forum that fish react to the colour, blues tend to represent shallow waters and black deep waters, so fish will think they are deep / shallow depending on the colour you choose and act slightly differently

Might be an idea to try if you're going to use black sand, to prevent an overload of black.
