Hi all,
I am in the process of pricing and designing a plywood aquarium and have a few questions.
I have just aquired a 36L x 36H x 28W(inches) tank made of 12mm glass andwas thinking of using the glass for the new tank but I thought the glass would have to be thicker at that height. Would it be alright for large cichlids?
Am I right in thinking that I could have lets say a 60in deep tank and use the above glass but have it 24in off the bottom?
The tank I want to make is a L-shape , could I just silicone two pieces of glass together for the internal corner or would it need to be braced?
Was thinking a tank at 36in high would need to have a frame around it or could I get away without one?
And lastly anyone know where I can get some sealant in the Uk , preferably with low odor as I would have to build the tank in place.
Thanks in advance
Joe

With 12mm glass I would not place it anywahere but at the very top of a build that was 60" deep. With 12mm glass, 30" is about as deep as I would go on a build. As far as creating a corner using 2 pieces of glass, it has been done here but I have not seen it on an internal corner. I think it would be easier becuase of the way the pressure would reston the corner but I might be wrong. The trick is to get a good seal and to keep that seal when the pressure starts bowing glass is different directions. Sealant in the UK....I'd go with liquid rubber.
