out of the 6 florida/spotted gars i have the first four were bough together and they are now 11"+
the other 2 i got at 3"
among the 2 i got one of them is a slow grower the other one is a good 8"
while this guy is just 6"ish

the ones which are 11"+ are in a 220g
i was growing the other 2 to go into the 220g

one of them was moved to the big tank when he was 6"+
and he has been doing well with the others

today i moved this little runt to the big tank after a water change
and just a few minutes ago i came to see what is happening in my tank and i find the little guy held by the tail by one of my 11"+ gars

i was like AAARRRRGHHH
went picked up my net and started trying to catch this guy but he wouldn't let go
after nearly a minutes chase he let go
the little guy is now in a 15g
he is breathing a little hard and has a part missing from his tail

whewww this was kinda close

there was no way that gar could have downed this little gar, but he had to try :screwy::screwy:

all i hope now is that this little guy gets alright
and i will wait till he grows 8" or so before he goes in there again

he'll be fine headbanger.
lucky you got there on time.

i think it was just aggressiveness not predation.
i was surely shocked
as the first time i added the small guy there wasn't any problem
but then now this happens

yeah lucky me

We tried putting our 15" Aro and our 14" Lima in our tank and the same exact thing happened. The trop was the culprit and he is about the same size as the other fish. Both fish were missing scales, tails, and were bleeding pretty bad. Both are fine now but not int he big tank. Sometimes it just happens. I'm sure if you get the little guy grown out a bit mroe they should all be fine.
