This is a story from several years ago. I had a tank setup. two of its inhabitants were a pangassius catfish (iridecent shark) and an albino clawed frog.
they lived peacefully, until one day I saw my catfish's tail sticking out of the frog's mouth. After a fight, i got him to spit the fish out. The fish was horribly stressed, but lived. I separated the two. months later, the catfish was considerably larger. I decided to keep them together again. time passed, and the catfish grew and grew. i wasn't too concerned, as the catfish completely ignored its bite sized tankmates. Another year or so passes (a long time in general), and the catfish is at about 22" long. catfish is still happy just eating pellets and such. tankmates included giant danios and such that were too big for the frog to eat, but would have been easy snacks for the catfish.
One morning, i come home from work, and found my frog missing, and a large lump in my catfish's gut. I couldn't help but feel that the fish got the sweet taste of revenge. I felt bad that the frog was gone, but what can ya do? I had the catfish for a few more months before i found him a new home. He never ate any of the other fish in the tank.
