I have been lurking here for a while, just now got around to posting:screwy:.

Here is the deal, I have two 125's both are 60x18 footprint. One I am picking up with a full grab bag stock list, the other is empty.

Here is the stock list, the top two pairs have to stay, everything below the line is optional. I can re-home them through my local club or LFS. You can mix and match however you think things would work best.

This is not my stock :nilly: it was package deal with the tank, only the top pairs are mine.

2 Parachromis managuense (unsexed juvi's) <<< have to stay
A confirmed pair of Grammodes <<< have to stay
_________________________________________________
everything from here down I am unsure of size, sex and number due to not having possession of them/the tank yet. figure 3-5 of each

vieja synspila
Geophagus steindachneri
Thorichthys meeki
Herichthys carpintis

Have fun and Thanks

Dont mean to be hard on you or anything but he posted in the CA/SA forum because he wants CA/SA cichlids not a pirhana.

Are you looking for a stock for the second tank or the one? If it's one and you have the Managuense and Grammodes pairs then I wouldnt go any more. Actually a pair of Jags and Grammode wont work in a 125, Not enough space for two pairs of VERY territorial cichlids.

All kidding aside, as D-train pointed out the Grammodes and Jags are going to dominate whichever tank the end up in. Putting them together is asking for problems especially since the Grams are a pair. The Jags will probably end up pairing as well, as is normally the case with a group of grow outs. With those having to stay , it really limits your options . The size of the adults relative to the size of the tank is the other factor . Firemouths and Geo's are pretty much out since they likely wont withstand the onslaught of a breeding pair of Jags , and not likely the Grams either. Might work for a bit but not forever. The Synsplillum and Carpintis could work as they have the attitude to handle themselves but with the Synspillum you talking about a big fish with a nasty disposition in a tank that's by your numbers under 6'. Probably not the best choice. I'd Give the Jags their own tank and give the other to the Grams with Carpintis and maybe a few Firemouths as dithers, expect to loose a few though(as with any dither).Pair of cons as an alternate since they will supply free feeders for the Jags and others.

1 pair of grammodes in 1 and 1 pair os jags in the other, with some silver dollars and larger plecos

I'd keep the steinies just because they are my favorite geos, and also could work out well if you want a peaceful cichlids community with them and some acaras and things like that. As for stocking the 125's, you'll probably have the jag's in one tank and the other fishes in the other, assuming the pair won't kill things off, but I'd keep most of the other fish if they are attractive specimens

Thanks for the replies, I am trying to stock both tanks actually.

Here is the whole back story, I bought the 125 with all the stock, it was a package deal, you get the tank and the fish. I know that the stocklist will not work that is currently in it. Well, in the mean time my wife bought me another 125g for my B-day.

So, basically I wanting the Grammodes as the center piece of one tank and the Jags as the center of the other tank. The rest of the stock I was looking for suggestions on if they would even stand a chance of staying in there. They are expendable, i can find them new homes with other club members.

I'd Give the Jags their own tank and give the other to the Grams with Carpintis and maybe a few Firemouths as dithers, expect to loose a few though(as with any dither).Pair of cons as an alternate since they will supply free feeders for the Jags and others.
I like that Idea, that what kind of the drection I was thinking.

I'm guessing a pair of Grammodes will kill anything in the tank as well. They are as mean, if not meaner than Jags if I am not mistaken. You might have some difficulties in the near future.
