So as it turns out, my boss's tank I'm getting is 150 gallons and not 170 gallons like I thought. He gave me the wrong dimensions. (I traded him my 35mm camera, I think I'm getting the better end of the deal ). I need to make sure I'm not gonna overstock.

I want:

1 Red Oscar
1 Jack Dempsey
1 Green Terror
1 Firemouth
1 Green Severum
1 bottom feeder i haven't decided on yet. Let's just say Common Plec for the sake of giving me an idea of what I can do.

If you guys think this will be too much, I don't really have my heart set on another Jack Dempsey if you can come up with a smaller substitute.

i dont think your overstocked for a 150. just make sure u got adequate filtration. what are you thinking for filtration? might want to consider some silver dollars or tinfoil barbs to spread aggression out alittle.

that sounds like a good stock list, if you want to replace the dempsey, try perhaps with something like a chocolate cichlid or maybe a nicaraguense

This stock list is assuming adequate filtration. I won't actually see what filters he's got until this afternoon. I know that one is a canister that has attitude problems (I suspect it just needs to be cleaned to work correctly) and the other two are over the side (I don't know what brand or anything).

I'll be able to make a better decision once I get my hands on all the stuff he has.

Do you mean add Silver Dollars to the list I'm already planning?

if the filtration isn't that good at the moment just keep up with very frequent water changes to compensate until you add to the filtration

i would pitch the jack demp.... More than likely he would assert his aggression to the firemouth and severum who are a lot more laid back

I like your stock list. Just be careful with aggression. GT's are known to be bullys.
I would say JD's are more territorial than bullies. if they have their own little spot, they're usually ok.

Not sure exactly. Looks from the picture to be approx 4' wide 3' tall 2' wide. I figured out is was a 150 and not 170 because I saw the exact same tank and stand at Petsmart.

So is the general consensus do throw out the JD and get, say, 4 SD's? I already have a JD (avatar!), so it doesn't hurt my feelings to substitute for something else. I just love their colors and he eats out my hand which is awesome.

My problem is I don't know how many is too many.
