So Idecided to clean out and rearrange my tank today, and of course all I have in there area ew fake plants for deco, and my 18" African, Chompers. Well, I kind of had to move him a few times since I have read the posts about lungfish and thier habits to try to bite sometimes, but holy cow I didnt expect him to be so dang persistant. He actually made me jump a few times, he can be quite quick when he wants to :D I never let his face out of my site, but wow, he is a mean little bugger:nilly: He even attacked the python cleaning thingy!!! His is a great pet to have, but I sur dont look forward to his weekly tank cleaning.

be careful...post some pics!

If you are worried get some heavy duty gloves....

And this is why I like my tanks to be bare...(easy to clean).
I have this long pipe (pvc) at the end of my siphon hose so I don't have to put my hands in the tank anymore.
Most of the time I use a net to clean the bottom. (if i have to polish the bottom or back I use a sponge tied to a long stick)
If I use it with care and just go slow (when I use the siphon pipe sponge or my net) my lungs won't bother me.
And you think a 18" is scary now...just wait untill it gets to 3ft.:eek3:

My Lung could bite a 1" thick FROZEN solid shell on market shrimp in half.. I don't know how much gloves will help :D
