I saw my first real flowerhorn in person yesterday. Ive seen a few little ones before, but yesterday I came face to face with an adult 7-8 inch red dragon. All my other sightings were online, as they werent even around back when I was into fish.

My first impression was wow, what a fish. I understand the appeal a little more now, this guy was very intense and interactive. What was most striking was looking at him head on, as I usually have seen them from the side, but this one was trying so hard to stay face to face with me that I couldnt even get a loot from the side at all. And what a face, it reminded me of the alien look I had heard about. Im definitely going to order a dozen fry and pick out a couple favorites to keep. If this 75 gallon tank deal comes together it might happen real soon.

Yeah I plan to start small. I saw a new cross that looked like thai silk but with real kok and flowers. But yeah, it takes a lot of water to keep more than one. Im going to start with a bunch of fry and pick my winners, two or three max. For now. :naughty:
