im just saying it because i've been thinking about it. I've been preaching the fluval fx5 for 2 months now like a few other people... what if they just $hit the bed in the next few months and leak or something, then we're gonna eat our words. just a random thought brought to you from the ever-wandering mind of downset21

that would suck. well for you and whoever else is using them

yeah just a useless thought... i must be bored, what a waste of a thread.

Ducati would jump off a bridge.

Just kidding, bro. I truely hope they live up to the expectations everyone who got them has. Many members followed that hype, and it would truely be sad to see them all run into trouble a few years down the road.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys.

Knocking on wood,
HarleyK

The reason you trust in them right now though is because they have a trustworthy brand name. Unless Ehime goes and trys to cut corners I think your pretty safe.

the lids alone scare me. I dont like the way they are built. I'll wait for a while:)

i definitely jumped on the bandwagon and bought 2 of them for my 220... i should have bought one eheim, and one fx5 instead of 2 fx5s.

JEEZ!!! Are you also afraid of the sky falling??! Nothing like maintaining a defeatist attitude to maintain a peaceful existence. ("it's working great, for now. But, I know it won't last".)
Are you also afraid of your refrigerator dying, washer hose connection failing, or toilet tank cracking?
Everything (especially man-made) has a finite existence. There's no use in troubling yourself over it. If it's working correctly and is properly maintained, enjoy it and simply deal with any issues that arise AS they arise.
If you're worried about your fish, in the event the filter should suddenly fail, keep a back up resource on hand (ie: sponge filters, HOB, air pump/stones, etc.). That's a sound idea no matter what filters you're running.

hahahahaha, yeah just thinking out loud. no they work great right now, im just thinking about how unproven they are. my thinking comes from xbox360's coming out on the market and people buying them up everywhere only to discover they burn out quickly due to a defect that has since been worked out. this unproven product with much hype behind it reminded me of my new ballzy filter... yeah i guess it is a defeatest attitude, i'll try to shape it up. haha, good points though.

I'm crossing my fingers that they don't fail, they have become pretty common filters now. I however, like rally, don't like the design of the lid. Just a little too scary of a design, I can just see that lid leaking if not properly tightened down like a drum head.
