I just recently moved ..... from a third floor apartment . When we moved into the apartment our fish fit into 5 gallon buckets ... Had to upgrade to totes . And it was pure @@@@ . Anyhow once we got into our new place " house " yay !!! I realized the tank needed to be resealed. Stand bowed so reinforcement for now is in place . And the fish are all sitting in a walmart special kiddie pool !!!!l They seem to like the kiddie pool . I just got all the caulking off and cleaned it out . Worn out to the max . 300 lb tank down three flights of stairs along with fx5's and buckets and totes of fish . Buckets of rocks , driftwood , not to mention the sand makes me never want to move ever and I mean ever again . My children were easier to move . lol. Anyone have any horror stories of moving their fish ?

Haha! You do love your fish. I don't have any moving stories but for me it is: You know you love your fish when you upgrade from a 240 to a 750 just because they can grow more and be happier :P.

Not really a moving horror story but I guaranteed my wife we will never get a divorce. Because there is no way I am going to mve half of our 124 tank back out of our basement. Some of our tanks must weigh close to 400 pounds and we have called in all of our favors with friends. That means I would have to do all the lifting my self.

As I have accumulated more, and bigger fish tanks, my husband repeated question has been "what if we move?" Honestly I don't want to think about it! When we moved into this house that we bought from our old second floor apartment I had two 20g tanks, a 10g tanks and a 45g tank that had fish in them, and couple that had no fish, and even that much was a pain.
I am currently moving around fish to redo some tanks but I have:
1 155g w/ sump
3 75gs
2 55gs
+ probably close to 10 empty tanks (quarentine, little tanks, extras, etc.)

When I got my first somewhat big tank, my 180 I didn't have anyone to help me out but my little brother. I got the tank for free from a bait and tackle shop that was getting a smaller 125 and they wanted it gone on the spot if I were to take it otherwise it was going in the trash so I went back with my dad's truck and I told my brother 12 years old at the time to help me lift it in the bed of the truck well after a while it felt as I was doing all the lifting so I just told him to go back in the truck. We got it home and I asked him to help me get it out. We got all the way to the front porch. You could tell his arms were weakening and he was slowly lowering the tank to the ground. He dropped it :( right on the corner the whole bottom corner practically shattered and the back panel cracked bottom to top in the corner the seams were busted and I was pissed. I took it the rest of the way inside by myself and refrained from screaming because I know he was still only 12. After pulling a coupple muscles and getting bruised badly I had got it in. I decided to attempt to fix the tank and I had to take it back outside to resilicone and test it out. I know the panes would have been better off replaced but I didn't have the money I just took off all the silicone and I mean all. After I resealed it , it held water and it's still inside my room holding water almost 3 years later! I know I know ticking time bomb but sometimes you groom do wacha gotta do when your 17 with no job. That's my story for ya...sorry for the run on sentences haha :)

When I got my 450L tank it had to go upstairs and I was unable to lift anything because my appendix was removed , so we called a buddy of mine and my brother to get it up the stairs but they could not do it so my dad rushed across the street to get a neighbor to help and with 3 big guys downstairs and 1 guy up the stairs the moves it upstairs . I was really happy I didn't have to lift it cause they struggled real bad hahaha.

I've used moving as an excuse to upgrade on more than one occasion hahaha. Set up the new bigger tank in the new place first. Then I just needed to worry about moving the fish, and not the whole set-up at one time. Wasn't able to do that the last time I moved though. Definitely all about planning and having the manpower and supplies needed beforehand. Plus I only keep one tank these days which helps. I used to have multiple tanks and it took some of the enjoyment out of it for me.
