Canada eh
So I have been avoiding aros for as long as I can remember. Understanding the size and tank requirements and how finicky they are.

about a month or two, i secured a deal on a 300g tank that is currently housing a 2’emerald yellow tail quite comfortably. So I felt like I had an internal green light.

over the last few months I have been lurking in this section of the site and I feel like I am drawn to bbxb more than most types of aros. I’m not particular on the size and looks of the silver/black types and jars are too mean imo. (Nothing against anyone else’s fish, these are just my preferences)

I made a joke to Tobiassorensen Tobiassorensen about not getting one unless I got a smoking deal on one. Then he told me I should do it. Then I said to my wife - well Tobias told me to do I should... she’s like wtf is Tobias. Lol. Little did I realize I shouldn’t have made such jokes. Because not long after a buddy of mine who owns a shop was pushing me to get a vfsr so he could get a good deal on a merlion. I rejected his offer and said I want bbxb don’t care what the price difference was, this is what I want.
I went home and started researching vfsr and started to allow myself to agree with him, they are beautiful. So I go into his office the next day and said sure sign me up for the vfsr, and he says it’s sold but there’s a nice bbxb for the same price. ??‍♂

so that was about 2 weeks ago and last night this guy came home with me

Welcome to the Asian Arowana Twilight Zone Matt -- what a beauty you have now! Panda Arowana have a great reputation for high quality fish, so should have some good genes and only become more and more beautiful as it grows (one of the best thing about Asian Arowana). Looking forward to see you grow him/her out and more pix along the way, congrats brother!

so my tank has some bracing that I am a bit concerned with this guy slicing himself open on so I picked up some plastic sliders but I had to cut out the middle piece

This is it fitting perfectly

And this is the sharp existing glass
I'd like to use something like that plastic siding on my glass bracing but couldn't find anything big enough -- that's a good idea cutting out the middle piece like that (though I have no idea how you did that so nicely lol).

For the center bracing I've got yoga mat wrapped around the 2 pieces; effective but partially blocks the light going into the tank.

Btw when you can plz take so more photos of your tank from top so I can see how you're using the pothos, is there a gap at back part of your lid? I'd like to start using same but just not sure on how I can best incorporate it into my tank with current lid design.

But congrats also on getting a deal with the 300 -- I think by now you should be getting around the 1,000 gallon club mark :)

Thanks Barrett, you are a big part of why I even knew about bbxb which drew me into this mess. Lol. Thanks bro.

I think I’m running 400g currently so not quite at that mark yet.

I had to score the middle piece with a razor knife then with straight ended pliers bent it back and forth to get the centre’s out of those pieces.BF2D2D05-5984-4C1B-9099-9DBF4B83F781.jpeg33C5435F-D141-4504-BD0D-8ECEED14306F.jpegCD4C52D2-8955-45BC-8066-BB54E103681E.jpeg
