I will start with one.

My JD has always been like what ever, just swims and minds his business never bothers anyone waits hit turn for food. I re-arranged the tank a couple weeks ago and him and the Texas found a new home they both seemed to love. No changes in behavior from any of the fish for 3 weeks. Then I wake up on Sat and the JD has decided that the drift wood and 3/4 of the tank is his territory. If anyone comes any where close to the wood or the other 3/4 of the tank he chases them away.

He doesn't care if its my 8" bala sharks or my 7-8" Texas or babe oscar that is now his tank and they better stay away.

i gotta JD (female) as the boss of my tank. i tried buyin a big school of buenos aires to add alot of movement. bought 12 and and it looked great. turned the light on the next morn there was only 9, next day 6. restocked it w/ bigger buenos and she torn them apart at nite too. so as u can tell i no longer have any schooling fish anymore lol. something about the nite made the killer come out, and she took advantage of easy meals lol

I worried about that every time I heard a big splash I wanted to jump up and turn on the lights to check on everyone but I know my wife would have kicked my tail,.

Okay here is another story.

I had a pair of jewels, they lived in the tank for months and months not bothering anyone. Then one day I wake up and they are both super bright with color that just pops out at you. Every since that day they where super territorial and would defend it against any one even a Oscar that was 6" bigger then them.

Come on someone else has to have stories like this? What about one of you Jardini owners I know one of you has a story where you once gentle fish be came a serial killer over night.

I got a story from when I first got my 55.

In my tank I had 6 Danios, 1 Rainbow Shark, 2 Bala Sharks, and 1 Buenos Aires Tetra

I went to bed one night and everything looked fine (except for the water params, but I had no idea what I was doing back then :duh:). Woke up the next morning and the Rainbow Shark, both Bala's, and 3 Danios had their fins almost completely gone. I was shocked. My Friggin Buenos Aires Tetra lost it and just destroyed them. He was gone the next day, I wasn't gonna let some stupid fish hurt my beloved bala's anymore. 2 of the danios died soon afterwards, but everything else lived on.

The fins never really grew back on most of the fish because they were chewed down too far. My two Bala's passed away in a bacterial infection about 7 months ago, and 3 of the 4 remaining danios died before that. Now the only fish I have from back then are my rainbow shark and 1 danio (who was attacked by an oscar this week, but still alive). My rainbow shark is missing 2 or 3 fins completely now, although the other fins have grown back to almost full size. He is forever crippled all because 1 night a buenos aires tetra lost it :irked:.

Man that's a rough night. I love my bala's and my rainbow, I really miss my red tail black shark. Guess I will never look the same way at a tetra again.

I'll never look at Buenos Aires Tetras the same way again lol, I mean I know they have a reputation for being fin nippers, but to do all this in one night? its rediculous :irked:. My Bala's are my favorite fish of all time, so if anything even touches them, their gone. Because of this the Bala's I got after the bacterial infection (My Fish keeping Rebirth lol) were in absolutely perfect shape, not a torn fin, or a missing scale. Until this week when I bought a crazy oscar, he beat them up, and now he's gonna too

Had a red devil in a 135g with 2 oscars and 2 jack dempsys. Went to sleep that night everything was fine, wake up next morning both oscars were beat down. One was blinded and beat so bad i put him down. Red devil now lives alone.
