Norway.
I had to move the blue acaras to the 15g, because they were being picked on by my aggressive gourami.
24 hours later, they started lip-locking, and one of them is shaking up close to the other.
Are they pairing off?
They are only 7.5 cm.
That is 3inches, by the way.
I have read they breed at 4inches

sounds like breeding behavior . . . I had port cichlids pair up at similar size . . .

sound like there pairing up to me dude,my acaras started breeding at that size(they have bred like 20 times now) trust me these guys could breed in bleach lol

Yeah I thought they were pairing.
Wish I had a camera.

Weird, though, they are so small.
Are they even fertile?

hi again bud mine were fertile at that size, they had there first fry at 3" and have continued to do so ever since

Cool, thanks for the answer.
They have stopped lip-locking and shaking.
Now they just stick close together, in the foliage of my plant.
I am excited to see if I can get them to spawn, then I will have free feeders ;)

hello again bud little bit of advice IME, my female really likes laying on the outside of a ceramic pot, so if you dont have one in there already it might be an idea to add one as mine has the choice of slate, plants, big tubes and ceramic pots and picks the ceramic pot every time( even if i move it, just tried it to see if she new it had been moved and she did, very clever fish lol) im sure if you have a pot in your tank you will quickly see them spawn with out any problems, as IME they are superb parents up there with the very best, hope this helps
