But seriously. I have 3 young gold saums in a 75g with smaller 1 inch rotkeils.
I am confident at least one of the three is a male. Lately I've noticed the 2 smaller of the three are being pushy towards each other. The larger male(?), about 2.5, and another gt would do these small little circles near the glass front of the aquarium. After their little ritual looking circle, the female(?) would chase the other smaller gt away from their lil circle space.
So this goes on more frequently these days. I would like remove a GT to form the pair, but I just don't know if these actions warrant a possible pair.

For those who have kept GTs, around what age/size do gts pair off?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like typical male/female behavior to me. My Dempseys are 3 1/2" now and they've been doing that behavior since I got them at .75". I think it's more the way males/females relate to each other, like they're 'pracitising' or something. Because it's unlikely they can actually breed that small. I would bet on those 2 being the pair, that's my opinion.

3 Inches or so...They need a little more time to get aquainted, then you wil know..

i agree it sounds like courtship but it could still be just a arguement. if they do happen to get together then i would be very worried for the other 2 fish in there with them.
i would remove them at a sure sign of courtship as the sev and other gt wont last long and they will be killed.
a pair of gt's in a 75 = no tankmates. and have a divider handy.
