In my 40B qt tank, with a mish-mash of stock (6 Inca Stone, 6 juvie cryptoheros nanoluteus & 5 toxotes blythii)
Looked in there late last night to see one Inca (Tahuantinsuyoa Macanzatza) aggressively guarding a bunch of fry.
So I totally missed out on watching "what I expected" (and bought them to eventually witness) as their normal process. There are no loose leaves or thin rock chips in the tank for parents to lay eggs on & drag around.
;-) I have no idea where the eggs were laid.
I think she started holding immediately after spawning, as I had noticed an odd look to one individuals lips. I can't distinguish males from females. It did not resemble the full throat when I've seen other species holding, so I was almost concerned.
They adapted their spawn to what was Not available.?
I thought they were too young to spawn, having bought the smaller stock from Rapps, about 2''.
I attributed a recent spike in conspecific aggression to their normal temperament in a small tank :-/
been feeding & water changing heavily, to fatten & grow the archers. got more than expected. Lol.
I don't know who the 2nd parent is, atm, as one is completely in charge.

I saw the fry get pulled back in for more mouth brooding. maybe they'll be out again late at night.
I was getting ready to move some of those fish out to community. not sure what I'll do now.

Not into breeding so I don't knoe a whole lot in that area but what surprised my was how quickly they spawned. I would have thought they'd more time to settle into their new home after being shipped across the country.
