Well, all has been well in my 55 gallon until a few days ago. I have 2 Tiger Oscars around 3.75-4 inches long(Reaching sexual point in life) one is bigger then the other by weight , just a little bit longer. Well the other day I noticed my slightly smaller oscar had nips in the fins and scales are damaged. So I watched them , and the bigger one will kind of ram the smaller one now, sometimes bites the sides of him as well, but the smaller one turns to its side(showing non dominance?) but doesn't really run away, just kind of takes it and continues to follow the bigger one....what should I do? They were best buds until now, and I don't know if this is some mating thing or one is going to kill the other at some point. Thank you.

Dithers, or you can rearrange your tank. Not mating. But remove and sharp rocks and decor that they can run into.

I got a few oscars.. I have had my 7inch put my 2inch in his mouth after being best buds for awhile! He spat him back out with his gills all wrecked... =( but after a week of good water conditions... they're best buds again! LOL! oscars can become agrressive.. it's just there nature... i would say let them settle.. it'll be fine, just be patient! mine always beat on each other and then start swimming together.. it's wierd!

A 55g isnt enough territory for one oscar, let alone 2
The beating will continue tilll the weaker one dies.
Its possible for 2 oscars to get along but the deck is stacked against them in a tank that small.

They are hardly 4" long , how can this tank be too small? I've seen full grown O's live in a 75g that get along fine (granted thats too small but I have seen it).
Reminds me of my ex girlfriend, Im sure she would smack me if we were in a mobile home or a mansion.

Oscars are mean. I'd just keep one.

Keep one, or upgrade to at least a 75gal if you can.

I kinda agree with veto! Until they get fully grown, there is no need for even a bigger tank yet as long as there's hiding space for now!
Everyone somehow speak of it as if they were already 10"s...

I don't know if they are typically mean but I agree with him just keeping one in the 75.

I have seen them turn mean but there was a reason behind it. I don't think they are generally mean though.
