your definition of wild caught?

Literally speaking wild caught fish are pulled from their native habitat.

Broadly speaking, I think wild caught fish are not products of inbreeding. When we buy F1's with the intent to breed, there are not many genetic differences between the male and female.

I guess another reasonable question to ask is... would two unrelated F1 male and female bred together result in "comparable wild caught" offspring?

Agreed, the key phrase there being "born" in the wild.

I agree. Any fish's, whether captive bred or WC, "genetic lineage" can be traced back to its native origin.

As far as gene strength? yes, 100%, there would be little to no difference...

Bogus...is always my opinion. "Wild caught" doesn't do anything for me. To me they all look alike and act similar, only very little in variations. "Wild" fish can act like aquarium fish and vice versa.

I bet I can list some fishes as "wild caught" and get more money and sales that way. Also goes for F1 and F0, anyone can just say they bought F1 from a reputable vendor because no one has ever said, "Lemme see the sales receipt first"

i was wondering, is it considered wild caught if you caught a species of fish that was introduced into the waters many years ago and there is a sustaining population of that species in the waters today?

This should be a poll........Wild caught is any native fish wild caight..The aqaurium hobby is strickly against introducing fish into the wild,, so therefore, any non-native caught fish is considered a menace not native.......

When I get a chance, I'll take some quality pictures of my WC G. Abalios & my CB G. Abalios. There is a very big difference in color, behavior, stripe patterns, growth, & trailer length.

Like I said different variations in life...you're making it like your 2 fishes speaks for all the species of fish in the world. Yes it happens to be that way and I am sure there are aquarium fishes that are way more beautiful and colorful than 'wild caught' fishes too, vice versa like said before and again.

Noooo, I'm not "making it" like anything. I am simply sharing my experience. I guess you would rather everyone agree with you? Every experience I have had with WC fish has been the same. They have always had more colorful variations, but I haven't kept every species of fish available so I can't speak for them.
