I felt this a little too meta to put in general aquarium discussion, so here we go! I was just daydreaming earlier (per usual) and got to thinking... if money, space, legality and even extinction/endangered status were a non-issue, what would be your ideal tank setup? What kind of monstrosity do you always wish you could facilitate, but never could realistically achieve it? I'm still overwhelmed thinking bout it. :D

The ocean.

I'd love to have a giant tank like the one at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I'd stock it with natives like big gar, flat head cats, turtles, sunfish, etc.

Mermaids!!! Definitely mermaids in a 200,000 gallon mega reef set up! But there's ..your extinction problem you mentioned. No one has reported seeing one in hundreds of years.:(

Psssst.... you need Mermen to breed them or you get in a whole mess of trouble. Don't be sexist. Also, you need to find good pearls as a source of currency to get them more active and it would not hurt to use Octopi to offset the balance and keep the aquarium healthy. Just from my experience.

I saw a gorgeous one a couple weeks ago! ;)

I've always wanted to keep those crazy deep sea monsters with glowing parts and big sharp teeth.

nothing bigger than I could not take care of myself, for me part of fish keeping is the work I put into keeping them well, That being said, love a 350g dovii tank.
