So here's how this is going to go you get to choose you favorate from the South American & Central American Cichlids you get to choose ONLY one from each of the above South & Central America.

Mine are :

South American : Oscar ( Astronotus Ocellatus )
Central American : Texas Cichlid ( Cichlasoma Carpinte )

My initial choice for Central was Peacock Bass ( Cichla Ocellaris ) as it's been known to habitat both reigions but due to that very reason i have changed it to Texas Cichlid to avoid any confusion. :)

I'll make this a sticky thread until i think it's old .

South American : Green Terror "False" ( Aequidens sp. Gold Saum )
Central American : Peacock Bass ( Cichla Ocellaris )

Actually it habbitats the rivers and lakes of Central and South America. But as i like it so much i added it to my central American nomination. I know that this fish does thrive mainly in south america. So if you would like me to cahnge my nomination i will.

south america

caquetaia spectabile for now until I get my hands on some caquetaia myersi

Believe it or not....right now my fav. SA cichlid is: Hoplarchus psittacus.

If you guys haven't kept them yet, you should, they are totally pimp, can out eat a pbass almost...and are beautiful gentle giants...haha. Love their faces.

CA cichlid: Paratheraps zonatus

SA: Possibly the Festivum cichlid.
CA: Firemouth.

I love Firemouths and festivums. My 2 newer firemouths eemed to have paired up and have started to fight my larger firemouth. Firemouths are not to be underestimated. Festivums are awesome because they're peaceful, ideal for communities, and they have nice color.
