Maybe this has been done before, but what was everyone's first predatory fish they kept? Mine was the standard tiger oscar, and I thought it was so cool to hand feed him feeders at the time (16 years ago). Still working on finding space for the fun things now like large pikes, aros, and such.

first predator? oscars....
Neo you say that like oscars arent preditors, i sure think they are. Most cichlid tanks that include an oscar end up with one fish in it down the road, the oscar.

My first preditor was piranha, have also had gar, baracuda, OSCAR lol, crappy, snapping turtle, bullhead, crayfish, mostly pirhanahs, started with aquariums when i was a kid, first preditor pirahans in 1988, they probly still my favorite

future plans are pike and bass

well the first predator I really experienced, was my dad's snakehead - which grew from 4 inches to 30 inches and was just a beast. That's still the most impressive fish I've had. But it was my dad's.

The first predator I had that was actually mine were a shoal of P's.

They got boring fast, the snakehead was much, much better.

Hmmm...first predatory fish. I'm going to say a Clown Knife I got 15 years ago when I was still a kid. They're still my favorite fish to this day.

Mine would have to be a 4 line pimlodus. Ate so many neons, danios, and guppies it want even funny. When I moved I gave it to one of my buddies. He had 4 6" oscars so we figured it would be fine with them. Wrong!!! He woke up the next morning and all of his oscars had been skinned and were either dead or dying. The the catfish was also in bad shape and died the next day. What a crazy fish and a pissed off friend!
