I'm About To Buy A 300 Gallon Acrylic, I'm In The Planning Stage... I Want To Filter It With 3 Eheim 2262's... I'm Not A Sump Guy... Two Filters Will Be Mostly Bio... One Mostly Mechanical... What Are You Guys Opinions About Running An Aquarium This Size On Canister Filters?

I honestly don't know anything about the eheim but I just made a thread about the SunSun 304B. You could probably use 4-6 of the 404B models. This would give you some good flow but would allow for a ton more media. They also come with a built in UV steralizer. You can get the 404B models for less than $100 each on Amazon.

I run two 2262 on my 220 gal.
Couldn't be better.
I'm not a sump guy, either.

Your plan sounds perfect to me.

While the Sunsuns are nice for the price, they use almost as much electricity as the 2262 and will hold less media. And the little UV on a tank that size wouldn't do anything. Plus, the less canisters you have to open up to clean the better.

I ran a 2262 with an AC110 on a heavily stocked 120. Don't see why three on a 300 wouldn't work.

I did a split on my 600...have an ehiem 2260 and fx6 on one end and a sump with a 2400 gph pump on the other.....also added a drip.....I would do the same amount of mechanical and bio media in each...this way you can label each one with a sticker and number them to keep track and rotate in cleaning each every so often.....if they hold the same amount of bio and mech....it will keep the tank consistent when cleaning filters

Having 4 ehiem 2217s ....2 fx6s...fx5...and ehiem 2260....I found it easier to number my canisters and write down a chart with the number and when it was last cleaned to keep track

I have 2 2262's on my 265 plus on 2217 filled with just carbon. The water is crystal clear and all parameters are good with a heavily stocked Malawi predator setup. The 2262s are by far the easiest large filter to clean and maintain. I can fully tear down and clean both of them in approx 45 mins. In terms of cleaning intervals, monthly I pop the cover off and change the purigen and filter floss, Every 4 months I do a full tear down. Great filter and super quiet too. Hope this helps...

Thank You... I'm Into Malawi Predators Also... I Was Planning On Using Two For Bio and One For Sponges, Chemical Pure and Purigen...
