Ok some of you know i am about to jump full steam into rays, i want your opinion on my filtration just so i can have peace of mind.

I have been reading about filtration for these guys and it just keeps saying LOTS of filtration.
a little of my regiment now.

i do 30% WC every other day. the tank is 96x24x24 240gals reef ready with a massive sump moving about 1200GPH i also have a FX5 as well that moves around 900GPH. as well as pwr heads on both ends moving @ 500GPH each. should i step it up any more? or do you think i am ok with ware i am now? i am very anal as it is when it comes to my tanks being clean, my tank as of right now (but not for long) is heavily stocked with many Geophagus and plecos, but will be all removed but a few.

thanks guys and sorry for being a pain in the arse! :D

you'll be fine. That's plenty of filtration assuming you have adequate biomedia.

no probs go for it..

i think it should be good, i hear plecos suck on the discs of rays so you might want to watch out for that. good luck!

Filtration level is good. The only thing I would add if you don't already have something is some form of filter that will suck the crap out, unless you plan on doing it manually and depending on the amount of rays you are getting. Ribbons of poo getting pushed around the tank are no fun. My rays' crap never made it to the overflow so it would just look like confetti a tickertape parade in my tank on poo day. It soundsl like you'll have enough flow to push it where it has to go though.

I currently have 2 Aquaclear 500's on my setup in the rear corners of the tank in addition to the large wet/dry.

The rays and geos are a neat combo. The geos will constantly sift through the substrate and pick up any uneaten food. I'd ditch the plecos though. They have a nasty habit of sucking on a ray's disk.

Filtration seems solid. Just make sure to avoid any drastic pH changes and you'll be fine.

Thanks guys!

i just picked up a 125 for my plecos and a back up tank for the altifrons just in case. here is a pick of it ,, this is a pick from the previous owner, it was salt but i have now cleaned it out and have it ready for FW, hopefully have some plecs in it by the end of the weekend. i'v filled and emptied it 4 times now just to make sure all is clean and no leaks after moving it home.

again the rays are not going in this tank they are going in my 240. FYI

I do plan to add 1 more FX5 to the 240 just for grins.

as for stringy poo in the tank i am used to that with as many plecos i have in the tank now and considering i do WC every other day I'm pretty sure my bio load will drop immensely once the plecos are out. :D as well as the massive driftwood i have
