I live in canton ohio and have a hard time finding polys.... what are your thoughts on purchasing from websites like **************** etc. as I have never purchased online but REALLY want more polys

My advice is to buy only from reputable vendors (shark aquarium, rapps, wes). In this hobby most of the time what you pay is what you get.

Toyin is definately your best bet. I haven't ordered from him myself, but when I get my new tank I'll be getting all my new bichirs from him.

Beside water conditions to have my tank prepared, is there anything else i need to be prepared for with ordering online?

Just make sure you're off on the day they're scheduled to arrive, and be prepared for them to not be on the flight. For some reason, aquatic livestock is the first thing to get bumped when there is too much cargo. I guess if you're going to bump something, go with the living animals with a limited air supply. Makes perfect sense.
