I have been growing bored with my setup, I tried converting from bare to sand but still feel I need something else.

I want to add another smaller schooling fish.

Here Are what I am thinking, one of the following

Tiger barbs 6 - 10
4 - 6 small cichlids "Need your suggestions"
4 - 6 rainbow fish
2 - 3 Angel
6 Gourami

So my question is do you Think I can get away with adding one of these groups?

If yes, which group, or suggest your own.

If No, why stocking level? Tankmate compatibility?

Here is any details you might need to know to give suggestion.

Current stock:

4 Bala 7"
1 Oscar 8"
1 Texas 5"
1 Jack Dempsey 4.5"
1 Firemouth 3"
1 Jewel 3"
1 Rainbow shark 5"

Bio Filter:
Over head filter 800GPH+ "Bonded Filter pad and Pillow Batting"
1L Seachem Biomatix
.5L Fluval Biomax
+/- 15lbs Lava Rocks.

Mech filter:
Fluval 403

Basket 1 Blue Bonded pad.
Basket 2 pillow batting
Basket 3 blue pad, carbon, blue pad, batting

Tank: 84x24x26
Temp 82F
7.2 ph
Two 1300GPH power heads.
Sand 1" - 3"
Two Large sections of Drift Wood.

Observed fish behavior.

I see the Texas and Oscar have str8 up brawls every day, this is new in the last 3 months. I some times see agression between the bala's and the rainbow shark, but only during feeding, and this has almost gone away after adding 2 bala's. The firemouth and jewel will sometimes, test each other, maybe once a week that I see.

Each time I add a fish the Oscar and Texas chase it vigorously for the first few hours, and then leave it alone. However there was one time where a silver tail was beheaded buy one of the fish.

The 5" rainbow is the oldest of my fish 3 years old. small enough to be eaten by any of the large cichilds.

The tiger barbs will work, the gouramis may work though I can't get them to last for longer than 6-10 months. For smaller cichlids you can try sajica or other archocentrus(spelling)

I don't trust the oscar

The oscar might eat them all.

So maybe a single BKG? I guess I can hold off I just bought a coral life super skimmer and 30 lbs of base rock for my 55. I just need same crushed coral and about 10lbs of live rock, maybe that will cure my itch.
