Hello,
I have a Front which as last june has started haveing proublems keeping her self down, She is in a established group of 7 , she is a wild caught which I have had, for around 2 years, They are very calum with each other in the 200 gallon they live in.
last june I noticed she was haveing the proublem staying to the bottom, she got so bad she was staying under a piece of slate and eventually wore a hole in her head trying to stay from floating to the top. I put her in to a seperate tank and treated her melafix and pimafix, after a few weeks the wound healed and she seemed better at staying down, I put her back into her home.

now after a couple of mounths she is now unable to stay to the bottom and if she comes out from under the slate she pops up to the top like a baloon, I took her out and put her into a 65 gallon and treated her twice with clout then after 3 days replaced all the water with water from her home and added 3/4 cupp of epson salt (65 gallon 1/2 full 30 gallons water) still no improvement.

She is bloated from the left side, if you were looking at her from the face, the ribs on that side feel like they are ready to poke through the skin.
I have heared of removeing the air, if this is what it is with a siringe, and am ready to try this, I would very much like to get opions of someone who may have done this or may now better of what this may be.

here are a few pictures I took.

Thanks ozz465, Great artical and video
I went to my vet today and got a catheter needle from them, and gave it a go , in her squirming out of my hands a few times I had to poke her 6 times, a few of the times though I got a lot of the air released, proubley about 3/4's of it , she is still floating but seems to be abel to take dives to the bottom of the tank which she has not been abel to do for a long time.
I figure I better let her rest a day or two before I try to get the rest of the air seeing I poked her so many time today.
I am sure she is pissed at me right now and would be hard to try to hold.
My main concern is that it has , I figure been at least 4 weeks since she has ate anything , does anyone know how long they can go without eating?
I have read a week but had also read many months.
she is submerged right now in a 4" pvc t ,floating on her side, been their for a couple of hours, I have put a tubflex cube in the t to see if she will take it, but if not I was thinking of putting it in her mouth when she comes out of the t, and holding her upright to see if she will take it that way.
any advice on how long she can go without eating would be helpful.

I had the same thing happen with an old mpimbwe , afther the needle , i placed him ina 10 tank with slightly warmer water than i have the others in with added salt, epson salt(to clean there digestive tract) and daily water changes. He dint eat much so i tried a little of everything till he ate . He recovered very nicely .
