should i be worried about a zebra moray picking off members of a clean up crew (hermit crabs, turbo snails, etc...)?

Depends on his temperment. He may kill all or he may kill none. But he mite kill a few imo

i figured it would be inevitable that he would, just wanted to see if its something he might do immediately or something that might happen off and on over time.

Perhaps. Zebra eels mouths have evolved over time to incorperate the most powerful crushing mass possible. Zebras and Snowflakes are the only morays capable of crushing inverts.

i know but thats why i was interested in him, i figured he would be the safest with my medium to large size fish.

Anything that can fit inside a fishes mouth is always at risk unless it has a hard protective shell. Some things are adapted to removing inverts from such homes, but eels are not one of them.
