They are filter feeders, and excellent breeders, although I don't know how they would do in aquaria. I think it is probably illegal to keep them. They would probably polish your water quite well.

they would probably make an interesting looking aquarium background, but they are a very invasive species...
They do wonders at attaching to boats in the mississippi, and occasionally messing up props and what not.
