:iagree: and if algae is your main concern buy a scraper and change the water more often...UV filters work wonders as well!
Well im getting a uv light soon and i do have a scrapper and i do a 25% water change every week so i just want my algea to be gone.;

Zebras will do nothing, they are carnivorous. Just so you know... most plecos are not primary algae eaters, and will infact add to the problem of algae production in your tank. I'd try to eliminate the route as opposed of getting a fish to try (though can't) do it for you.

Read the stickies. Davo and I have put many hours into a couple of the stickies up there, and that is so threads like this don't need to happen. A little research on your part wouldn't hurt either.

Yup they are meat eaters, but if person is on the forum and had some skill to keeping plecos can keep zebras.

Most people tend to think zebras are delicate species just cuz of their price tag.

This was my zebra tank setup with dozen of them earlier this year:

They don't tend to be picky about water hardness or PH, mine did fine in high ph of 8.4 and hard water. Main thing is to keep water hot, 85-86 and very well oxygenated with powerhead, they are very easy species of pleco to keep. The L183's are harder to keep then zebras, but that's due to their livers not being able to handle harder water and higher ph. K will shutup now.

They don't have the tooth structure to be algae eaters, that and they hide all the time.
They can and will munch on plant matter, as i can put a slice of squash in there and they will leave track marks on it, or if i sneak a peek at them in the middle of the night they will be on the squash, but they are meat eaters.
They eat the little crustaceans they find inbetween the rocks in the Xingu river.
get some bristlenose, they will make the tank clean of algae.
