Can anyone help me to train my 2.5 feet clown knife fish to eat any dead food including pellets. im trying to avoid live fish because of disease risks and cruelty.

If you want to switch the big guy to pellets, it may take some time. Starving it would be your best bet. I feed mine freeze-dried shrimp.
mine took a year to get on pellets, but now he loves them. but before that i was feeding him beef heart and shrimp, try that!
switch over to brine for a while. its less beefy. after about 2 months go to pellets. or just put pellets and your food in.
have you tried dropping fish like whitebait/silversides past him when he's in his cave or try loosely tying a fish by the tail to a piece of cotton and slowly dragging it through the water near him,it will start a feeding response and he will at least look at it at first but after a bit of time he will def take it and then your away!This shouldn't take too long with a knife as in my experience they are always hungry!Also this really does work i have done it myself,good luck
also i forgot to mention that the best way to get him to eat pellets is to house him with fish that naturally feed from the surface like medium/large barbs etc and he will eventually copy them
yeh man sounds like a great idea. thanks a lot. ill give it a shot. its just gona be quite hard because i have a 5 foot deep pond and my fish is always ALL the way at the bottom plus they never wana come to the surface. hopefully hey will still work. :S
