Hi, I have kept these two Zebrina pikes in a 750gal tank for at least a year, Prob. longer....
They were like glued together, always together..
Well they are at least 12 to 14 inches now and always hang together, (kind of like an old married couple).

One day, after a water change their belly's turned an incredible pink color (almost all the way up to their dorsal fin) and they went at it.
Lock jaws and fast....all over the tank...I was worried that one might get killed but they were equal in size....

They locked for a long time and continued the next day.

I was not sure what to do (this is a big tank and you can`t just catch a fish when you want).

So I got drunk.......lol
Just kidding,

I kept a close eye on them, they did take breaks and then the water must of heated up and they were almost best friends again,

Why I say this is because over the span of a year....one of them was a little bit more dominant over the other one but since the big fight....they are equal but at times the one that used to be more dominant gets feisty but now the other female puts her in her place right away and the fighting has stopped.

Kind of like the dog whisper.....lol

So I added a 5 inch multisponia pike in the mix and they get along great....pikes never cease to amaze me....

I'll be adding more multisponia to this tank in the future..

should be interesting, from what I have seen the multisponia all hate eat other...
don't get it....Lol

anyone else with experiences from zebrina or multispoina...please reply....
Thanks

Any chance the submissive one chunked up to a similar girth? I'm guessing it's females reacting to breeding conditions (wc simulating rain?) so that one is trying to become the more dominant desirable female. I haven't kept pike but have experienced this in some SA cichlids.

Yes the one that used to be subdominant has grown and now I can see the tables have turned but they only do this so often, not all the time....I need a large male in the tank but not easy to find!!
