The real plain look is really relaxing, I don't know, just the simplicity brings out a soothing feeling, However, I'm sure the fish don't agree, they don't have anywhere to hide!

Looks good. The only thing I would do different is use those air stone disk and set them on the substrate instead of in the middle of the tank like that.
