Cool concept. Unfortunately, so far, the laws of physics don't allow for perpetual motion. It might become extremely efficient but will still need some outside energy input. If that energy doesn't come form something like solar or wind it just displaces the carbon footprint.

You are correct on the subject of perpetual motion. As far as the "carbon footprint" goes I'm sure running a compressor to "recharge"/refill it's air tanks would use less energy and thus have less of a carbon footprint than a vehicle driven the same 200 miles using gasoline or diesel fuel.
